LEARNING THE HARD WAY!

The recent event in Egypt showed how inexperienced the Muslim Brotherhood in matter of governing under a democratic system. Despite what ever Egypt has is far away from being described as democracy still there is a good amount of freedom of expression which is the underpinning of any healthy democracy. The Muslim brothers thought post Mubarak era will be a walk in the park. they thought there is no one but them and the other parties are so weak to oppose. they were proved wrong. English: (Islam_Is_The_Solution.jpg) arabic logo to muslim brotherhood organization (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Like most  Islamists   they did not think it through. They only think of taking power and control but they have no idea about governing. they have quite vague  mottoes  like " Islam is the solution" but they never told us how Islam is going to solve the unemployment problem, or housing, or improve education and health status of Egyptians ! the problem these mottoes are for the i

Ramadan! What did you miss?

English: Khartoum downtown view at night (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Ramadan in Sudan like all other arabic/islamic  countries is a month where everything slow down. Public services start late, you will lucky if you found anyone in office in the first place, and if you did most likely they will say to you they are in the mosque doing Quran reciting or praying and you have to come back some other day! SudanRevolt is no difference! once Ramadan announced the number of demonstrations against NCP declined sharply. There may have been one here and one there but nothing promising, some tried to promote night demonstrations but this did not work too.  Even the Nyala incident was not enough to mobilise the street in Khartoum during Ramadan. Is it Just Ramadan or is it the disconnect between Khartoum resident and rest of the country? a question for another day. The Umma party still trying to be on both sides at the same time, with and against the government, Turabi still bitter an

It is Huge!

As I predicted, NCP is in big trouble! The loss of oil revenue and the need to keep security forces happy Bashir had no choice but to increase taxes and stop subsiding basic commodities. Bashir’s options are limited, if he stays in Sudan he will prosecuted or even handed over to ICC , the only place where he can run to which out of the reach of ICC is either KSA or Iran but both countries will be risking relations with the new Sudan. Take my word, he will fight to the end, the question what will the men around him do? The current demonstration is gaining momentum and traction. Students start it but now more sectors of the Sudanese community are involved and the numbers of participants is increasing day after day. It is just a matter of time for the Bashir’s government to collapse. Sudan is late in its “Spring” compared to other Arab nations such Tunisia or Egypt but in fact Sudan is a head of the curve. This will be the THIRD time people of Sudan revolts against a dictator,

Sudan: Fight for the heart of the South

An excellent documentary done by Aljazeera English which done couple of months after the referendum. It give you a quick glimpse into current issues facing south Sudan as new emerging nation, as many commentators in the documentary discovered the greatest enemy of the state is the people of south Sudan themselves. Blaming the north would not be helpful and is equivalent to hiding your head in the sand. North Sudan is become the Israel of the South. Having said that I have no doubt Khartoum and NCP do whatever they can to undermined the government in the south, I do not know why as any sensible reasonable commentator will tell that a stable prosperous south Sudan is in the best interest of the north but may be not in the interest of the NCP.  Bashir and his cronies need war, need to scare northern Arabs from people in the margins, northern Arabs are becoming the Sunnies of Iraq. When there is peace people of the north get  the chance to put NCP under scrutiny. Now after seeing t

Sudan: History of a Broken Land

This is a good documentary about Sudan before the separation of the south from the north. it was aired by  Al-Jazeera English  almost more than a year ago. it just showed how politicians messed up Sudan for the coming generations. I would say it is relevant to current situation as we as Sudanese are repeating the same mistakes but now in  Darfur , Kurdofan , and Blue Nile . Al Sadiq is right about one thing, the north has to apologies for associating salivary with the degree of blackness. I really like this youtube video, it just show how wonderful and exciting the kids and the people of this continent. it is not always about war, death, or disease. we are alive like anyone else in this world.  Aid has been pouring into Africa for as long as I can remember to the degree that some people made a career out of it. it is time to depend on your own self. let's stop the stereotype buy starting with ourselves. Image by Getty Images via @daylife In the last two days president Bashir told the world that he is not going to run for re-election. It is not the first time he say so but no one believes him for very simple fact which is the ICC . The only protection against the ICC at present is his position. most Sudanese are not inditing Bashir but they are against inditing the president of Sudan . The moment he put one foot outside that area he will lose the sympathy and the support from Sudanese people . He has no choice but to stay in power.  It is kind of play. He declares he would not run for president, then his party and some others will cry out asking him to consider the future of the country and its security and that people of Sudan need him. It is the same play Jamal Abdul Nasser did when he resigned after shameful defeat by the Israelis . His party already started to play down the president statement.  Bashir is going no where, and he would not run for president because there woul

Hypocrisy of our society

LiveJournal Tags: Sudan , society , Africa , hypocrisy Sudan and Sudanese have always been proud of the way they stick together as a society and a community! We all heard about the story of the Sudanese who was sick in a hospital in Saudi Arabia who had no money but when they asked him to pay he just told them to go to street and find any Sudanese and when they did that Sudanese paid the whole lot! No one knows if this story is true or not but there is high chance it is not! May be we used to behave like that in the past but not any more. In the event of a social event such someone getting married or death in the family Sudanese always get together and help each other specially financially in these days! After all who can bear the cost of feeding 400 people for three days in a row?! But what annoys me is something called the "book". After each social event family and friends get together and donate money to try and lessen the financial burden. All money is reg
